(1) RHB Spiritual Revival Meetings - An Eyewitness Account by Loo Kee Sin, 1995
Testimonial of a visit to some Rodney Howard-Browne "camp meetings".

(2) Watching The New Wave by Sure Hope SA, Inc., 1995
A paper on the false teachings of Rodney Howard-Browne, one of the main people responsible for the Toronto "Blessing" movement. "During his February 1995 series of meetings held in Adelaide, South Australia, much of what Howard-Browne taught was related to giving financially, prosperity, and having an "open head" to receive the "blessing". There was much denunciation of all that would dare to question the validity of his ministry, along with labelling all those that would not "enter in" as being "dead", or Pharisees."

(3) Introduction/Rodney Howard-Browne by Dr. Eddy Cheong, 1996
"So began the so-called Laughter Revival in the United States ... this "laughter anointing" passed down from Rodney Howard-Browne to Randy Clark (who apparently came close to a nervous breakdown in 1993) and from Randy Clark the "anointing" passed downwards again to John Arnott, the present pastor of the Toronto Airport Vineyard Church. John's church was apparently in a "hospital mode", (presumably spiritually sick), before the outpouring of the Laughter anointing. Later, John himself described this anointing as `highly contagious and transferable." ... The services in this church are reputed to have gone on for six nights a week since January 1994. From Toronto, this Laughter Movement has spread to many parts of the world. The ultimate source of the Laughter Movement therefore is still Rodney Howard-Browne."

(4) The Intoxicating Spell Of Rodney Howard-Browne by Yves Brault, © 1997 - PFO
"What shall we say about his ministry? It is the result of a deceptive scheme of manipulation and crowd control, not the genuine work of God. Jesus said, “You will know them by their fruits.” Remember: Power, signs and wonders are insufficient to determine someone’s true nature. Israel was misled and deceived in their days, and numerous Christians are misled and deceived today. Just look deeper than what meets the eyes."

What ploys will this man not use to get the reaction he is seeking?

(6) Testimony Of Someone Who Got Hurt by CROSS+WORD, 1995
"The testimony of the people roughed up at the Rodney Howard  meeting, referred to in the exchange of e-mails between myself and K---, has now been added to this site."

(7) A Laughing Revival Service by Al Dager, 1996
"The following is excerpted from a Media Spotlight report on the Laughing Revival: In order to get the flavor of a Rodney Howard-Browne service, we offer a condensed version of one. This description is taken from a video tape of a meeting held at Carpenter's Home Church and aired on TBN. The events were exactly as we portray them, and are not notably different than any other of his meetings we've viewed. "

(8) Eyewitness Account At Madison Square Garden by Jackie Alnor, 1999
The figures are being grossly inflated.  The talk is big, but is this really a vision from Billy Graham

(9) Laughing Revival Evangelist Has A Dream by David W. Cloud, 1999
"The Bible tells me to "prove all things" (1 Thess. 5:21), and the Bereans were commended because they searched theScriptures to prove whether things were true or false (Acts 17:11). When I "prove" Rodney Howard-Browne’s dream and ministry, I find that it is false."

(10) Another Eyewitness Account At Madison Square Garden by Eira Carminati, 1999
Rodney Howard-Browne decided to "rent out Madison Square Garden in the heart of Manhattan with a seating capacity of 20,000 for a full month's time, 'believing God' for the three million dollars needed to pay for it.  A down payment of $500,000 was apparently made, with the rest due to come in with the 'masses of people' who'd be brought into the Kingdom through his outreach and of course would immediately have the means and willingness to give generously to his offerings. He's not looking quite so confident now, however.  On the first Friday night of this crusade, perhaps 2,000 people 'flocked' to hear the message.  Ironically, the number of volunteers for this outreach is about 2100."

(11) The Holy Ghost Bartender by Michelle Beardon, Tampa Tribune, 6/99
An article and two-part video series on the Madison Square Garden "crusade" of Rondney Howard-Browne.  Is he serving up true Holy Spirit "anointing", hypnotism, as this article suggests, or demonic spirits?  "TAMPA - Tampa preacher Rodney Howard-Browne , so called server of the new wine of Christ brings his controversial happy hour to the Big Apple for a six-week run."  You will need the VivoActive plug-in to view this two-part series.

(13) Good News America Is A Flop! No Signs And Wonders! by Christian News Today, 1999
"The mainly black and Hispanic crowds averaged about 3,000 a night in the famed 19,000 seat arena. Even though the free meetings included entertainment, Howard-Browne's "Good News New York'' campaign has failed to attract the size audience he wanted."

(14) Bad News New York! by Eira Carminati, 1999
"A friend of Jackie Alnor (of "Christian Sentinel") accompanied her to the GNNY crusade in New York hosted by Rick Shelton and featuring the ministry of Rodney Howard Browne - the source of the laughter revival - and here she writes of her experiences. This report makes very sad reading."

(15) Drunkenness In The Spirit - Should We Have Another Drink? Or Should We be Sober and Vigilant?! by Hughie Seaborn, 1999
"Because of the influence of the "Toronto Blessing" movement and the excesses that were taking place I
studied afresh the Scriptures that have been used to support drunkenness in the spirit and I came to the
conclusion that, over a number of years, we have been led astray by the subtlety of wrong doctrine which, by stealth, has evolved into a mature delusion, the very thing that the Bible so clearly and persistently claims will take place in the 'last-days' church. The development of this prophesied
deception has proceeded in such a way that even the very elect are in danger of succumbing to its seduction. "
